The ability to increase its volume in relation to its weight, quantified in grams per cubic centimeter. The minimum acceptable value for export is 38/40, although under optimal growing conditions, hybrid potential, and post-harvest management, expansions of up to 44/46 or higher are possible.

Explosion:
The quantity of kernels that have the capacity to expand and become popcorn. Usually the standard is 98%.

Caliber (KC or K10):
Grain size determined by considering the quantity of kernels in 10 grams of product. Being 60/65 kernels in 10 grams the average caliber.
